From Wire Shelving to Architectural Glass—A Journey of Craftsmanship

Top Shelf began in 2009 with a simple goal: deliver high-quality wire shelving and finish products with the kind of care and precision homeowners and builders rarely see. Founded by Paul Questad—who brings more than thirty five years of experience in the homebuilding industry—the company quickly earned a reputation for clean installations, reliable scheduling, and a commitment to doing the job right.

Over the years, our capabilities expanded as our customers asked for more. What started as a wire shelving company grew into custom closets, bath accessories, mirrors, window coverings, and eventually full–scope glazing services. As our expertise and team grew, one thing never changed: our dedication to craftsmanship and service.

Today, we’ve installed more than 94 miles of wire shelving and over 7 acres of mirrors—a testament to the trust builders and homeowners have placed in us for more than a decade.

A New Chapter: Top Shelf GlassX Corp

By 2025, our work had become increasingly centered around premium glass—commercial storefronts, architectural railings, frameless shower enclosures, custom mirrors, wine rooms, and entrance systems. To reflect who we’ve become, we rebranded as Top Shelf GlassX Corp in July 2025.

The “X” represents the expansion of our product offerings and the elevated standard we hold ourselves to. It’s glass, and it’s more than glass—the supporting products that finish a space with intention and precision.

Who We Serve

We proudly work with homeowners, builders, and general contractors across the Portland Metro and Southwest Washington region. While most of our work is local, we do occasionally travel for projects where our expertise is needed.

Meet the Team

  • Paul Questad

    FOUNDER

    Paul is the owner and founder of Top Shelf, alongside his wife Nora. His favorite part of the job is developing software for the company—creating tools that make business management smoother, faster, and more efficient. Outside of work, Paul enjoys playing piano and golfing.

  • Craig Lampinen

    OPERATIONS MANAGER

    Craig serves as Operations Manager and has been an integral part of Top Shelf GlassX since 2015. With nearly two decades of experience in the construction industry, including over ten years in business management, Craig is recognized for his exceptional customer service expertise. Outside of work, he enjoys hunting, quality time with his wife and four children, and indulging in Marvel films. Should the opportunity arise, Craig would pursue auto racing as a personal passion. He gratefully acknowledges divine providence for the opportunities and blessings in his life.

  • Katie Mickelson

    OFFICE MANAGER

    Katie serves as Office Manager and has been a valued member of the Top Shelf GlassX team since 2020. An avid reader of mystery novels and enthusiast of comedies, Katie dreams of global travel should time and resources permit. When envisioning her ideal residence, she describes: “ A great big kitchen and a living room that is open with lots of room for hosting friends and family, big bedrooms with large walk-in closets, large, covered patio to enjoy the morning sun with a cup of coffee and sunsets to end the days”

  • Brandon Scott

    COMMERCIAL PROJECTS LEAD

    Brandon joined Top Shelf GlassX in July 2023 to support the development of our commercial division. Since then, he has become a key part of the team—preparing proposals, estimating projects, managing commercial installations, and helping train and strengthen our growing crew. His leadership and technical insight continue to elevate the quality and consistency of our commercial operations.

  • Ken Ford

    LEAD INSTALLER

    Since joining Top Shelf GlassX in 2018, Ken has earned a reputation as the go-to expert for heavy-glass installations. He thrives on the precision and craftsmanship required to maneuver and set large, weighty panels, and nothing beats the satisfaction of stepping back to admire a flawless, showroom-ready result. Outside of work, Ken is an avid gunsmith and cherishes every moment spent with his wife and children.

  • Darrin Field

    LEAD INSTALLER

    Darrin has been a key part of Top Shelf since 2020. He takes the most pride in installing heavy glass shower doors, appreciating the craftsmanship and the satisfaction of a flawless finished product. If he ever mastered woodworking, he says he’d love to build furniture. Above all, Darrin credits his family as his greatest motivation to continually grow and improve.

  • Lars Questad

    LEAD INSTALLER

    Lars has been part of Top Shelf since 2019 and is known as a reliable, steady-handed installer with a mellow attitude that makes him easy to work with. He especially enjoys installing mirrors and bathroom accessories, taking pride in the precision those projects require. Outside of work, Lars likes reading the Bible and relaxing in the sauna, and he holds out hope that castles one day make a comeback.
